This community consultation project was working with youth and adults in the community from various organisations. The complete mural is a combination of painting and steel sculpture.
The image depicts the River Avon that flows through Northam providing life for the unique flora and fauna that lives there.
The Matchstick Banksia were of particular importance to the community on consultation, along with the Black Red Tail Cockatoo. The youth we were focused on their friends and family network and this was what made Northam home for them. This piece is entitled ‘The Family We Find…’ showing the birds flying at sunset to roost with their ‘crackle’.
